Habitat For Humanity is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing throughout the world. It is an action oriented group. It brings those people living in undesirable situations together with those who have the means and ability to help them in an equal partnership - bridging the gaps between people by building new housing and a sense of community. This is not a give away program because those who benefit from the housing ministry invest "sweat equity" hours in the construction of their new home. Since volunteers build or rehabilitate the homes, costs are low, providing the new homeowners with a decent house, low monthly mortgage payments and a no-interest housing loan.
